Move Capital, the first NEAR-native VC fund announces its rebrand to LYRIK Ventures.
From NEAR Foundation Grant To Crypto-Native Venture Fund
LYRIK’s founding team, Rune Bentien and Michael Kelly, came together in 2020 initiating a conversation on NEAR Proof-of-Stake and its ecosystem. Their conversation soon evolved into the first iteration of what is now LYRIK.
In early 2021, the team gathered support from NEAR to set up and run the first grant program for NEAR startups backed by Fabric Ventures. Besides helping NEAR focused startups like Meta Pool, Pikespeak.ai and Quid.li, the fund begun running a PoC for a NEAR dedicated investment vehicle.
The PoC then successfully evolved into MOVE Capital and the fund is today backed by industry leaders including Accomplice, Digital Currency Group, Illia Polosukhin, NEAR Foundation and UDHC.Finance. This development allowed the fund to back more than 15 cutting edge startups and position itself as a creativity booster for the NEAR ecosystem.
Now, the rebrand to LYRIK Ventures will allow the business to continue evolving and deliver meaningful impact to the NEAR Ecosystem and its stakeholders. As Rune Bentien puts it:
